The last emperor of the Mughal dynasty, Bahadur Shah Zafar, was defeated by the troops of East India Company in the independence war of 1857. The British government sent the Mughal emperor in exile and took him to (Rangoon) Burma. Bahadur Shah Zafar lived his last days of life in Rangoon.
Bahadur Shah Zafar was a poet of Persian and Urdu. Like his successors, he has a good knowledge of art, culture, history, and Islam.
